Hopefully the water wouldn't be too cold. He had taken his aunt's offer of a ride to the beach, glad there was finally something for him to do. He knew he should be working on getting his driver's license, but he hated cars. He didn't want to deal with them. If he could ride his bike everywhere, life would be perfect. Towel slung over his shoulder, he thanked his aunt and slid out of the car, snagging his drawstring bag before closing the door. "I'll call you in an hour or two to see if you're ready to leave," |
Abruptly shaking his head, he did his best to banish the fear lacing his thoughts. He was not going to spend the day--this beautiful, sunshine-filled day--worrying about what was more than likely not going to happen.
The water seemed to call to him, beckoning him. He hadn't been to the beach in what felt like ages. Maybe he would see some friends from school here. He hadn't thought to text anyone ahead of time. Oh well. Even if no one was here, he would enjoy it. Sometimes, having alone time was a good thing.
As soon as he got to the sand, he slipped his sandals off, picking them up and carrying them. He loved the way the sand felt beneath his feet, in between his toes. Eyes on the waves as he made his way toward a relatively empty area, he wasn't really paying attention to what was in front of him. A sharp pain shot through his foot as he tumbled forward, the sand rising to meet him. He dropped his bag and towel in the process. He mumbled a few curses in Italian as he sat up, looking around to see what he had tripped over.[/div]
