It was a day like this, where it was steaming hot and you would kill for something cold and sweet. Like an ice cream, for instance. That's exactly what Eli was craving for, since it was extremely hot and you could see the heat waves flow off of the pavement on the sidewalk. It was so hot that you could cook an egg on the sidewalk. What was he supposed to do? Oh, that's right go get an ice cream at the local ice cream shop in downtown Newport. Duh.
Walking down the street, trying to avoiding getting ran over by people in shorts and skirts, wasn't that easy. Especially, since it's summertime and everyone wants to head to the beach on an afternoon like this. Where was Eli heading? First, he has to go to the hair salon to get his hair cut. No, I'm joking. He's headed to the Ice Cream shop, I just repeated myself didn't I? Oh, well anyway... Sorry to distract you.
Elijah walked past the huge crowd of people, he realized that he was probably walking the wrong way of the crowd. He continued on, without a care of the looks he received from people he walked past. The beach wasn't quite his thing, he didn't like to get sunburned because it hurt. A lot. Earbuds were pushed into his ears and he was listening to one of his favorite songs, Walk This Way by Aerosmith. It was one of the many songs his father loved, that was before he died in that car accident. As Eli roamed closer to the shop, he could see the sign in the distance, which was only a few blocks away, but it felt like miles to him.
Finally, he reached for his earbuds and turned off his iPod, that he bought oringinally for his younger brother, Ian but he never used it. Before he reached for the handle on the front door, he looked inside through the window and saw that not many people were inside at all, he thought that it would've been packed with people because of the intense heat wave. Eli turned the door knob and stepped inside to find a cool blast of air hitting him. Good, they had the air conditioner on for people that came in from outside.
He sat down at a small booth at the very back of the shop, away from people, that he might come into contact with. You see, Eli isn't a social type, he really prefers to be alone and not spoken to. He sat at his lonely table, wishing there was someone he could talk to.
