Jimmy believe in being on time. He made sure to take preparations to make sure that he arrived at his destination 10-15 minutes early. It was something that he had learned during his life lessons somewhere. If you’re early, you’re on time. If you’re on time, you’re late. However it would seem as though traffic wouldn’t agree with him on this day. Taking a look at his watch, he would roll down the window and poke his head out as if the view would be any different than simply looking through the windshield. Turning his radio down, there wasn’t any music blasting through the speakers, but talk radio. He liked to be current with the news. He felt that it was a great way to start a conversation.

Eventually he would see that an accident had caused the delay. Once he moved past it, it was smooth sailing. Clearly people’s curiosity had got the best of them as they had to stare as they drove by. There was nothing to see really. One car had simply decided that he it wanted to see how far it could push its self into the others trunk. Making it to the office building, he would park on the street. Putting a few quarters in the meter, he would check his watch and then start to hustle toward the entrance only to realize that he had left his messenger bag in the car. Snapping his fingers and running back to the car for it, he would move double time toward the building.

He was only five minutes late. Luckily he had prepared for traffic, but to him this was still unacceptable. Especially if he wanted to be able to get paid for his time today. Announcing himself, the girl would usher him through the door and he would enter into the office and notice the D.A. sitting at her desk. Stepping inside he would extend his hand in her direction and offer her a smile.

”Hi. I’m Doctor James Best. I’m very sorry I’m late. There was an accident on the freeway and I haven’t learned the short cuts in this city yet.”

It was Jimmy’s job to judge people. He was rewarded handsomely when he was able to judge them probably. Of course it was called diagnosing and not so much judging, but it was all the same, wasn’t it? It was the reason that he was here after all as well. Jimmy was a doctor. He had his own office to hang his degree in. He drove a nice car with heated leather seats. He had a nice loft style apartment with a pool table, bar, and hot tub. He was living the dream. That dream cost money. He got paid well, and even though UCLA was free, that degree from Harvard would probably throw him in debt for the rest of his life. And that’s why he worked so hard to get side jobs. Working for the D.A. could prove to be quite beneficial for the both of them.

”Well…I’m Dr. James Best. However before that I was simply known as Jimmy.”

Jimmy’s history wasn’t all that interesting in his opinion. However, he had been known to tell a good story or two. He could get into that hear, however, he would rather hear about her. Jimmy had an idea. Instead of being the one to talk about himself, he would get her to open up about herself. It would be impressive in his opinion if he were able to get her to open up and trust him in this little exchange then she could see that he could get people to open up to him. E just needed to figure out how he would do that. In the mean time, he would do as she asked.

”I grew up in a not so great neighborhood in Compton. I know that violence and drugs are glorified in music these days, but trust me…there’s nothing glorious about where I’m from. My father left before I was born and I’ve never met him. It was just me and my mother. The joke is that I raised her since she was still a child when she had me.”

Jimmy cracked a smile and chuckled a little at the thought. Jimmy didn’t have much family. His grandparents weren’t around because they didn’t know about him until he was older. It was the curse of being born to a mistress really. He wouldn’t put all of those details into the story.

”What about you? Who were you before you were the district attorney?”
