Haylee smiled as she watched Alex, hating how quickly her son was growing up. She loved the sound of his sweet little laugh as he played in the sand, and she didn't even care if he was getting his clothes horribly dirty. He was having fun, and so was she, so it didn't really matter. Besides, he was a one year old, so it was sort of to be expected. Today was supposed to be a day without any cares or worries, anyway. There'd been too much worry in their lives, though part of her still wished Alex's father could be there. He really had been a great guy, and if she was honest, she was still madly in love with him. But his job had been more important. How could she compete with chasing bad guys and playing with guns? Apparently she hadn't been able to. So here they were, and she would make the most of it. Alex was the best thing in her life, so she couldn't complain. The little boy laughed again as a wave made it up to his knees before fading back into the big blue ocean. Haylee laughed softly, shaking off thoughts of the past and deciding it was going to be a good day. They only needed the two of them to be happy. Haylee Allison Grant |
