Kaiden had been out at the soccer field all morning. She was exhausted. She was happy to be able to get out of the house for a bit. She had asked her neighbor to watch her grandmother while she went to go out running with her dog Rally. Just being on the soccer field kicking the ball around made her relax some. She wished these days came more constantly. She and her dog raced each other up and down the field chasing a soccer ball. After playing the little "one on one" game between her and her German Shepherd she pulled on her favorite hoodie she had taken from Zeke. It said US Army on it. Kaiden wore that hoodie all the time. Every time she inhaled into it it reminded her of the soldier who was stationed in the foreign country. She missed him a lot.
The girl reached into her back pocket and reread the last letter from him. She smelled it and smiled as she could smell his cologne. Kaiden did the same thing with each letter. She carried it around until it was worn and she couldn't smell his cologne anymore. She missed the man so much that she had saved up enough money and bought his cologne to spray it onto his hoodie. She felt like he was holding her when she wore it on his hoodie, and it helped her miss him less.

Juniperthought it would be a great idea to go for a jog that morning. It was true, she wasn't the most physical type, but she had promised her brothers that she would be fit the next time they came for a visit. She wanted to be able to kick them around like she used to. Unfortunately that was not going to be a reality for her this time. According to their pictures, they were ripped. Juniper looked around her room for some sort of work out gear. So far, there seemed to be nothing. She sighed and pulled a dark purple hoodie from a pile of clean clothes and found a pair of short shorts to match. They were black with a thin purple striped running down the side. Throwing on her sneakers and her red hair into a tight pony at the top of her head, the young girl was ready for her work out.
She ran. And as she ran, she thought of absolutely nothing. Her brain was entrapped in the music that was pumping through her earbuds at the moment. A good electronic beat puled as she jogged along the soccer field. For a few moments, she was lost, entranced in what ever beat was carrying her. She hadn't run like that in ages. Her eyes scanned the field and just as she was about to turn around, her eyes caught the dark hair of someone she knew well. She rushed over to the young girl and stopped in front of her. For a moment, she paused trying to catch her breath.
"Hey lady. What's cracking?" She asked, her friend Kaiden, beathing heavily.

Kaiden went back to focusing on her ball, kicking it, and doing all the tricks she enjoyed doing when she practiced by herself. It was a peaceful thing for her she loved kicking the ball around. "Hey, there's a face I wasn't expecting to see today," Kaiden said as she kicked the soccer ball with all of her might. The ball went flying across the field almost to the basket ball courts. Her dog took off running after it. It felt good to let out the frustration building up in her. "How are you Jupiter?" Kaiden asked as she sat down on the ground. The girl reached into her pocket and pulled Zeke's Dog Tags over her neck and tucked them into shirt as they hung around her neck.
She was wanting to talk to the girl about Zeke. She wasn't sure if it was legit her wondering if he was hurt, or had gotten hurt or not. It had been a long time since she had heard from him, so naturally she couldn't help but to worry. She watched as her German Shepherd came running back with the ball and laid down next to her. She knew that Jupiter was afraid of big dogs, so she took out the leash and tied the dog to the bench. Even though her dog wouldn't hurt anyone.

Juniper shuddered and cowered inwardly as the large dog came back from retrieving the ball Kaiden had kicked away. Juniper had a fear of large dogs, having been bit by one when she was younger. She was glad when the beast was tied up to the bench, her friend acknowledging her fear and respecting her boundaries. She watched as Kaiden pulled out a rather odd looking necklace from around her neck. Juniper didn't want to appear rude, so she let the necklace be. To Juni, it looked as though they were dog tags. Army tags as others would call them. Shaking her body, Juniper plopped herself down next to Kaiden, as far away from the dog as she could possibly get. She listened to her friend's question and smiled.
"Oh, you know. Same old. I got a new job I think," she said, recalling her encounter with Cody, the sexy fashionista. She was excited to get a call back from this woman so she could quit her drag of a job at the comic book store. The only reason as to why she stayed there was for the discounts and her best guy friend, Henry. Juniper could see something up with her friend. Juniper poked Kaiden in the side.
"Dude... Why so glum? You won't attract anything positive with that attitude darling," she said with a nod and a faint giggle. She honestly, just wanted her friend to spill the beans about what ever was bothering her so Juni could sweep in and save the day.

Kaiden listened as her friend talked. She was happy for her, and it was great for her if she was going to get the job. Kaiden stretched a smile on her face as she talked about the possibility of it. "I really do hope you get that job, that would be great for you if you got the job," She told the girl. She stretched some and looked at her friend when she asked about her being glum. She knew it was silly to be upset, but she couldn't help but to feel sick to her stomach whens he thought about Zeke possibly being hurt, or worse, dead.
"I haven't heard from Zeke for a while. His parents haven't told me anything, and I had a letter sent back home to me today, and it said return to sender, no longer here, type of thing. I am just worried about him. I miss him, he's my best friend, and you know as well as I do that I am in love with him, but too afraid to tell him, and in that letter I told him how I felt." She said. She leaned back, being careful to not get the sweatshirt grass stained.

Her boyfriend. Juniper shook her head just a little, not enough for Kaiden to notice any. She couldn't imagine having to sit around waiting and wondering when her boyfriend would come back to her. What if he died. She just couldn't bare to see her friend lose someone she loves so dearly. She was slowly losing her grandmother and she didn't want to see Kaiden lose her lover either. She nodded as Kaiden praised her about the job, but this situation quickly detoured away from Juniper. This was her job, no less. She was the queen at making people feel good again, give them hope and something to believe in.
Smiling, and putting an arm around her friend, Juniper sighed. "Babe, it's not easy. I can't even tell you from experience that this is all going to be okay, because I don't have any. What I do have, and I'll share with you is the optimism I have. I know it's been a while since he's written and that can be worry-some, but hang tight. I have a feeling that he will be okay. He'll come back to you safe and sound and you'll both get married and have lots and lots of babies!" She said, putting enthusiasm into every word she spoke. Of course Juniper had to idea if Zeke was going to come home safe but only time would tell and it was true, Juni had a good feeling about this boy.
" Just watch. A few weeks time and he'll be back in your arms dear. He loves you and you love him and that is a bond stronger than any other. I've seen this crap in action man. Love does some crazy things," she finished and gave Kaiden a reassuring kiss on the cheek, accompanied by a one armed hug.

Kaiden smiled as her friend tried to make her feel better. It helped some to know that her best friend was there to comfort her. Kaiden looked at Juniper and smiled some. "I am sure that I am just freaking out over nothing... right? I mean, I am sure if something was wrong his parents would have told me, I mean they have their hands full with their ranch and all, but they'd tell his girlfriend what's wrong." Kaiden said, trying to be optimistic. It was hard, but she had to look at some sort of positive.
She smiled when her best friend kissed her cheek and she playfully pushed her. "Want to come by my place for a bit? I haven't had breakfast yet, so I am starving," the girl commented. Really she just wanted to get her mind off of Zeke for a bit. She missed him.

It hurt Juniper to see her dear friend hurting so bad. She knew that Zeke would be okay, but how was she to portray that to her? That, Juniper was unsure of. She scratched her head and continued to listen to Kaiden.
Juniper laughed playfully at Kaiden when she was pushed aside. Juniper was so consumed with what her friend was saying that she hadn't realized how hungry she had gotten. Nodding a couple of times, she got to her feet and dusted off the bottom of her pants.
"To be honest, neither have I. How about we tag team an omlet and bacon or something?" She asked, holding out her hands for her friend to take. This was definitely going to help her take her mind off of the man she loved, at least for a few hours out of the day. Perhaps Kaiden would be interested in baking cupcakes or a shopping date.
Juniper was always one to help a friend in need, especialy if they needed cheering up. Most of the time she came up with these radical ideas, but none of her friends would be so brave as to try them. None but Kaiden and perhaps Henry.
