The week was a long one, not being able to see the girls or Anna even all week was just hard on him. It was working, dealing with drunks, disgruntled employees, and paperwork. He hated the paper work. But, it was just what he needed, the night with his girls, all three of them. Sure, it was weird. They were divorced but they still saw each other for pick ups and drop offs. He still loved her of course, but he had a gut feeling that he would always love her. Would he tell her that? No. Not at the moment, not for a while, and of course they would always have to see each other, it would be years before the girls were old enough to decide weather or not they wanted to come to his house on the weekends. He was terrified of the day they would grow up and one day they wouldn't need him anymore, they wouldn't want to be seen in public with their dear old dad.
Thankfully today was not that day. The circus was in town and he had gotten a call from Anna telling him that they were headed there. He was pretty stoked about it. He got in his car and drove there quickly. If he was lucky it would be a long night, the girls didn't have school and he saw cotton candy in his future. What fun were little kids if you couldn't hop them up on sugar. He bought four tickets to get inside the big top. Standing there he was practically bouncing on his heels waiting for the trio to show up. Was it weird that he was excited to see his ex? Maybe for some people, but it wasn't like they fully hated each other. Okay, so he couldn't speak for her. But, he didn't hate her. He really did still love her, a lot. She was the mother of their children, she was one of the most amazing woman he knew and he was just lucky to be married to her. Maybe he didn't know what he was talking about. But, he did know that life was completely different without seeing her and the kids everyday. He just wished he could go back and fix everything.
He looked over the crowd, which, wasn't difficult for him to see over. He saw the brunette that he loved and practically pushed his way through the throngs of people to get to them. He grinned widely and happily at them. He playfully scooped Addison and Caroline up, giving them both kisses before setting them safely back on their feet. He gave Anna a grin, holding the four tickets up, spread so she see them all. "I bought our tickets for us." He said with a grin. He thought it was only the right thing to do, this was sort of like a date.. sort of. So he would have insisted on buying the tickets anyways. It was only the right thing to do. He almost wanted to say something about getting cotton candy, something to drink, or maybe some popcorn. He was sure she wouldn't appreciate him hopping their daughter's up on sugar, they did have to go home with her in the end anyways.
